Blunder's evil: "...brains like jam" comment, but then he becomes good?

Character "Blunder" (Kiran Shah) makes a comment of wanting to eat Lily's brains like jam, but then later he is in the dungeon with the other 'good guys,' where I guess he, likewise, became a good guy..??? 

....I just don't understand how he went from evil to good? Perhaps one could say he was under some kind of spell traipsing  around earlier with Blix, but that's kind of weak. ...so, did anybody ever understand Blunder's change, or did I miss something? 

I must have missed something too because I didn't understand it either.

I don't think he was under a spell. He did say he was looking for an adventure and got more than he could handle. I think it might be a bit of a LOTR influence in here, like when Bilbo went on an adventure, he was probably looking for something more in his life. He might have been exaggerating as to fit better with the rest of the goblins (with the brains like jam comment). He became selfish (as apparent when he got the unicorn's horn). I guess the storyline isn't flashed out enough, but that's what I got from it. Once he stared at the face of death, he probably quickly turned around to survive and joined the good guys.

It seemed like at some point he was captured, but convinced Darkness he would work for him. At some other point his hand was transformed probably as punishement for something. I think in the 'brains like jam' scene he was trying to fit in and go with it. When he takes the horn I think hes not just being greedy but finaly saw a way to get back at Darkness and end his servitude.

You guys are over thinking this.

Blunder was Screwball's brother. He says so in the dungeons. After Screwball says he'll climb the chimney, Blunder says "No job is too small for my little brother." He says he went looking for adventure, and found more than he bargained for.

The reason Blunder has a chicken foot for his left hand was explained in the alternate opening. Blix found a strand of hair from a Unicorn, but when they went to Darkness to claim their prize, Blunder jumped in front of Blix and yelled about how he found it. Darkness gave (cursed?) him the chicken's foot.

As for the brains comment... well... he was kind of going along with the crowd, there.
