Phone Network Tie-Up

I've always wondered how tying up the local phone system fits into the film. While Joey chats away on his toy Princess phone w/ dear ol' dad, the scenes change to showing entire banks of payphones ringing off-the-hook. All we know from those scientists (or whatever) is that Joey gave the phone company some headaches, but not how or why. Does the German version, "Joey" explain it better?

Note: I'd like to get the DVD set for "Joey", but @ $35+ for a copy, I've been hesitant (although, I may eventually break down).

Yes the German version does explain better! i own the 2-Disc DVD set, maybe Starz/Anchor Bay should re-issue the DVD with both versions and perhaps on Blu-Ray.

OMG this classic movie came out on DVD and even a 2-disc set!
Awesome!
I remember having the VHS tape and I watched that all over again and again.

Such a creepy movie at the time.
But I wonder why the lead actor Joshua Morrell never did anything else afterwards.
