screaming for a remake

i really do this film is screaming for a remake, keeping the original dummy of course :)

Well i always thought this needed a remake, i always loved the original since i was a kid even though it scared me crapless with that dummy. I'm thinking of writing a script for a remake based on this since i'm a fan of the original and it's done with care but make it more different and fresh with some new characters added, more monsters, an explaniation on the history of the Fletcher dummy and his master and set in Santa Ana with a climax taking place at Knott's Berry Farm amusment park where the house will be set in.

I'm gonna consult on Roland Emmerich on this idea and he could be producer with MGM/Fox for the film project. I also want a talented filmmaker like Antonio Bayona of The Orphanage fame to do this ideal remake. I also want the dummy to be as dark and scary as ever with the voice of Malcom Mcdowell as Fletcher's voice and Jennifer Connelly as Mrs. Collins, they also need a talented young 10 year old boy to play the part.

that sounds great! Fantastic! Just think given enough time and attention this could be a major blockbuster. The original wasnt a major release was it. Mind you i was 10 when this was released. Not happy with the extremely limited dvd. 2 disc version. Not good. It needs digitally cleaning up. And releasing. I dont understand why this film is not that popular.

Well the film is a cult movie but it is popular in German, the US version isn't but did you see the US version in theaters here in the US in 1986? or are you from Germany?

i had to get my dvd shipped over from the states, theres no way your getting it anywhere in the uk.

maybe mr emmerich should do the remake too!!!
this could be one major big blockbuster.

Well Emmerich can be producer of this and have a talented art director like Antonino Bayona (The Orphanage) as director.

I even sent a letter to Mr. Emmerich for this ideal project and soon will write the script for the reimagining.

For director how about Jean Pierre Jeunet (City of Lost Children) for director? afterall Joey is similar to COLC in terms of surreal dark Euro made Sci-fi fantasy flicks.

I'm coming into this conversation a little late, but here's my input. I love the original and I'm usually against remakes, but this is one film that does need to be remade. Keep the original Fletcher dool though, cuz it's creepy as hell but yeah, Malcolm McDowell would be awesome for the voice. Any word back yet from Emmrich about it? How's the screenplay going? Still working on it or have you finished it? I'm a screenwritier so I could give some input on it, if need it be
