I HAV'NT SEEN THIS MOVIE IN OVER 10 YEARS,BUT I HAVE IT ON LASERDISC! SO I DECIDED TO WATCH IT AND I REMEMBER IT BEING A GOOD MOVIE,BUT AFTER WATCHING IT 10 YEARS LATER,I FEEL NOW IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE! IT HAD ACTION,IT WAS FUNNY,AS WELL AS A GOOD PLOT TO KEEP YOU INTRESTED IN THE CHARACTERS.JOHN LANDIS PART WAS A BIT OF A FOOL BUT,HE MAD ME LAUGH JUST THE SAME.
JEFF AND MICHELLE WAS GOOD IN THIS FLICK TOGETHER,I WISH WE COULD HAVE SEEN WHAT EVER HAPPEND WITH ED AND DIANE!

I agree with you both. I first saw this movie 20 years ago when I borrowed a vhs from someone I worked with and it was on after the movie I borrowed the tape to watch. It tells you how good that movie was as I cannot recall what movie it was even. As soon as I saw this on dvd I bought it. It would have been cool to have commentary on the disc.

i watched "Into The Night" for the 1st time this year and i found it to be poorly scripted and unrealistic actions of the Mob on how they take care of business. they are sloppy.

The best part about the movie is the end credits when it was all over. i love Michelle Pfeiffer and Goldblum but sometimes all great actors make mistakes.

John Landis was great for Directing Michael Jacksons thriller but not this film. ahh.

:P

Unrealistic actions of the Mob?
What are you talking about? The bad guys were a group of Iranians looking to steal a small cache of emeralds that were smuggled into the country.
Are you sure you watched the right movie?

yea i regretfully watched it.the iranians were not directed properly and they came up lookin unprofessional

well, if they acted professionally, it wouldn't be much of a comedy and pretty short as the two leads would have been killed in the first 15 minutes...

I agree! This was one of my favorite movies of the 80's.

After some contemplation on the matter, one of the reasons why I liked the film is that Landis gave the viewer a good slice of Americana. The vast array of multi-dimensional characters from pencil-pushers to Elvis impersonators to Iranian assassins to cute waitresses (Amy Heckerling as one of the zillion celebrity cameos). Perhaps I am not doing justice in this explanation, but I think Landis does a superb job of weaving the frenetic narrative with interesting characters that most people can relate too!

When I need to break away from a bad day, I can always pop a film like Into the Night in and go off on a 90 or 100 min. adventure and always return energized. :)

I haven't seen it in 10-15 years and bought it for .50 on VHS. I don't think I would want to see Into the Night on DVD. There no reason to (unless there was commentary). It's easily better than I ever remembered. Easily one of John's best. Should be programed more often as a rep house/midnight movie item. The original ad art blows away that DVD cover too. Hate it. Also located the B.B. King laden record soundtrack (for $1.00). I spent a total of $1.50 on 2 items from a great movie. Or you could go out and spend $40 on some *beep* blue ray of Avatar.

I think the director (who was one of the Iranians) made them look just the way he wanted...Keystone Kops with hair triggers.
