does anybody know what the persian guys are eating at shaheen's house? at one time it looks like
some sort of nuts and later they break up some hard white thing and pass it around.
i must have seen this movie four or five times now and that scene drives me nuts.

I think the joke is that every time they cut back to these "tough guys," they're eating something different: nuts, some sort of rock candy, etc.

I THINK IT'S HALVAH -- A TURKISH DESSERT MADE OF GROUND NUTS AND SESAME SEEDS MIXED WITH HONEY AND COVERED WITH WHITE CONFECTIONERS SUGAR. IT CAN BE HARD OR SOFT DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF HONEY INVOLVED.
