Two Versions?

I watched Into The Night on Cinemax today. How Ed learns of his wife's infidelity seems to be portrayed entirely differently than I remember it originally appearing.

In today's version, Ed drives home, sees a car in front of his house, walks to the outside bedroom window and peers in – there is the sound of heavy breathing, but we never see what he sees.

That I remember, in the original version, Ed walks into his house, walks down the hall and sees his wife on top of someone in bed, she turns to him, looks saddened for a second, then turns back to the guy she's having sex with, smiling, and increases the tempo of the sex. Ed turns and leaves.

So am I mixing up my movies, or is this how it originally aired?

Anyone know?

I think he fantasizes about the second scene later on; he does not actually see them "engaged."

I'd rather have Michelle Pfeifer anyway...

You're confusing Into the Night with Body Double. In Into the Night he hears his wife's heavy breathing from outside the window. Body Double has the scene just as you described.

That kind of sounds like the version I've got on dvd.

I watched Into the Night on TV years ago and it only had the sounds of his wife having sex.

I just watched it on dvd and there is a quick shot of the wife having sex with a man after the scene of Ed looking into the window. Then it shows Ed walking to his car.

The second description sounds an awful like a scene in Dreamscape.

I remember seeing this sometime on TV in the eighties and could have sworn at the end Goldblum and Pfeiffer actually talk about how long he slept for...but who knows. Memory plays tricks.

LadyTODDfan is the most accurate ie. Goldblum sees the parked car, walks to the window, hears heavy breathing but doesn't see any detail, and leaves.

Then, back at the office, he visualises them having sex as the OP described ie. there's only one version of the movie.

The scene you remember is from "Nothing to Lose" with Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence. As it turns out it was Robbins character's sister-in-law whom he saw getting it on in bed, not his wife. This film came out in 1997.

It's clearly Body Double, not Nothing To Lose. In that film, she doesn't turn around, because then it would be clear it wasn't Tim Robbins wife, hence spoiling the films only gimmick.
