The Editing...why?

Why is the editing so bad? The fight scenes look absolutely atrocious, I mean it's on a whole new level of bad. Why is it that whenever the main characters fight the werewolves they always look like they're in a completely different room with a black backdrop? Could they just not get both actors onscreen at the same time or what? Was the director's original film heavily tampered with? What went on here? Why did they constantly have to use stock footage from later on in the movie?

Also what was the deal with that demon thing, why did it come back out of the priest's mouth and what happened to Christopher Lee at the end? I feel like I could have known but the editing either cut out the ending to that scene, or they just forgot to film the ending to the scene.

But can anyone think of any conceivable reason as to why this editing is so bad?

spoilers:

I noticed the editing was pretty bad as well. I thought Christopher Lee went up in flames. The black women didn't even look like she was involve in the fight at that building she lure those guys to.

According to director Phillipe Mora, he had originally shot a humorous spoof, but at the last minute the producers decided they wanted a scary movie, so the movie underwent drastic re-editing which is how it made it into its current incarnation.

As for what happened to Stefan Croscoe (one s, not two), there is an insert at the end of the burning scene of a wax Christopher Lee melting.
