I just thought that I would ask everyone if they remember back in the day when The USA Network would show movies like this on the weekends. I remember seeing some cheesy movies during a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and then late on Friday and Saturday nights they would have a show called USA UP ALL NIGHT!
How many of you remember when the USA Network was showing B movies like this back in the day?
I know this is such a late reply to you that it isn't even funny but yes i remember when USA ran movies like this. USA Up all night, Saturday Nightmares, and Commander USA'a Groovy Movies.
It is ok if this is a late reply. That is great to hear that you can remember when USA ran movies like this during the 80's and 90's. It all changed once Barry Diller bought the network in the 90's from the original people running the network. Then in 1998 Mr. Diller sold it to the wrong network and that was NBC. Look what NBC has done to USA Network. Turned it into crap that shows nothing but crap in my opinion. Yes I remember USA UP ALL NIGHT, Saturday Nightmares, and Commander USA's Groovy Movies. That was when USA Network was a whole lot better than what it is now in my honest opinion about it.
That is why I am trying to spread the word about a come back for USA UP ALL NIGHT or if not someone creating a independent network that will not fall into the same trap like everybody else has done and bought into. We need a TV network to put on programming once again like what USA Network had along with shows or programming like a USA UP ALL NIGHT, Saturday Nightmares, or a Commander USA's Groovy Movies!
I have some great video clips of a lot of the programming that helped make USA Network what it was during the 80's and 90's before NBC forever changed how USA Network was really like back in the day.
What gets under my skin (other than USA network gone to hell.) is that I have a hard time getting involved with tV shows because the ones I think are good or even great get canceled. There are a FEW (and I'm talking VERY VERY few reality shows I can watch without shaking my head.) I like and enjoy channels that show movies and only movies like the movie channel of years ago on cable. There even was a time when cable networks like HBO and Showtime showed movies and not much else. I miss the old days....I miss the 80's and the 90's. You don't know what you got till it's gone I suppose.
I know exactly what you mean about that and I think some people out there are idiots for not giving these TV shows a chance at all or a opportunity because they are mindless and want to watch crap that is on TV. Plus, what annoys the heck out of me as well is when you get use to your favorite TV show being on for example, Sunday night at 7:00 in the evening and what do they do? They switch it to another night so that they can put some other stupid show in its time slot. What the network fails to forget is by switching it to another night and time slot is there could be something else that you love to watch instead at that time. That is why some of the great shows wind up not making it for more than a year or more. There are some reality shows I do get into and enjoy watching but they are limited though because I think a lot of the reality shows are just crap!
I know exactly on what you mean about channels that use to show movies on during the day. Shoot! I can remember back when I was in school or during the summer months 30 years ago they would at least show a movie in the morning and a movie at noon. Then once the movie was done with you could watch cartoons at like 2:30 in the afternoon. Not these days and times it seems like anymore now. Instead they bombard us with sitcoms in reruns or crappy crime and drama shows instead. I also miss the movie channels from years ago on cable. Yes I agree with you about HBO and Showtime when they use to show movies. Now instead they are showing TV shows that no other network will show and instead they will show them on there. I miss the 80's and 90's as well.
That is why someone who grew up with us from the 70's, 80's, and 90's who has money needs to step up and create a network for our generation to show films from a variety of different eras and have a TV show like USA UP ALL NIGHT and Monster Vision. If I had that kind of money I would create a network like that.
Oh MAN. Those two words Monster Vision brings back some good memories and it also brings up another point. I don't know if you remember but sometime during the 80's tv channels (usually local tv stations) would have their very own horror host. You know the drill about he scary host that would present that nights movie and if you were lucky, a double feature. Horror hosts have been around since....at least the fifties and right around the 80's they started dying out. They were fun to watch if you didn't take it seriously.
I am glad that Monster Vision brings back some great memories for you. Yes I do remember the horror hosts during the 80's that you are talking about. I live in Central Illinois where they do not have any horror hosts here. It sucks to hear that. What I find very strange is that there is a station from Champaign, Urbana, Illinois that airs some friends of mine on TV there. Unfortunately where I live at we do not get that station that airs Marlena Midnite. She is a friend of mine that I met at Horror Hound Convention last year in March of 2011 along with some other horror hosts from all over the Untied States. I met Joe Bob Briggs and Honey the Mail Girl I believe she was called at Horror Hound. I spoke with him that I was trying to get USA UP ALL NIGHT back on and that if that happens then possibly they would bring back Monster Vision as well or the other way around. Mr. Briggs did not say anything and just smiled at me. I know what you are talking about kerrykop.
By the way I have several horror hosts featured at my website if you would check it out in the links page. Plus, some good news for you as well is that I have The Monster Channel which you can watch all of the horror hosts from all over the United States online from your computer. I met them last year at Horror Hound and to help out I placed them in my links page. So you may want to check that out if you have the time to. :)
I just finished browsing your website and have it bookmarked for later perusal. You have an awesome website and I noticed those ladies too VERY NICE. Thanks for the link!
COOL That you just finished browsing my website and have booked marked it for later perusal. Why thank you for the compliment about the website. Pretty much all of the members added things to help the website out as well as I have also. You are welcome for the link and I am just trying to get programming better in my opinion for people to watch.
Yes. I do remember when the USA Network showed movies like this one. I remember watching Vampire Circus and Captian Kronos: Vampire Hunter on a Saturday Evening sometime around 1985. I miss those days.
