thoughts?

reply

He's right, they should back off if they're dumping beer bottles, cigarettes and dog $hit on the front lawn.

The owner should just charge them to view it, he'd be freakin loaded if he did. But yeah, the fantards need to gtfo and get a life.

Instant cassettes. They're out in stores before the movie is finished

reply

yea they are doing that they are disrespecting someone's house, and you make another good point if he charged the fans to view the house have some security guards there while it was open he would make a mint

where you from?

I'd definitely be doing that if I lived there. Think of all the fanboys you could cash in on. Those nerds are loaded.

Wouldn't say they are loaded but they would def pay the price to view the house regardless

Spaceball City. haha that did make me laugh considering your profile picture, That is a classic 80's film and classic in general

but seriously where you from?

reply

True, they're not necessarily wealthy but when it comes to their favorite movies and shows, the fanboys are willing to pay any price going. Seriously, some cough up 100 bucks for some drunk actor's signature at one of those nerd cons.

Haha, cool. It's an awesome movie.

but seriously where you from?

This is a very important topic that seems to have shifted gears into a personal discussion between two members. And while that is great I think it's important to discuss the issue at hand.

The Goonies home has been owned by the same family for at least the last 15 years. The owners have been cooperative with documentaries made about the Goonies and they happily participated in the 30th anniversary festivities in 2015. These are people who used to have a sign that said "Goonies fans welcome on foot, no cars please." Now they've got signs that say "No Goonies fans, Not EVER." And it now appears they have covered portions of the home to hide it from prying eyes.

It's all very sad. I just returned from a trip to San Francisco to discover that the house that Jimmy Stewart called home in Hitchcock's Vertigo, a home that stood on Lombard Street for over 50 years without any modification, has had an enormous wall constructed that not only blocks public view of the iconic home, but drastically alters its architecture. All of this is because of the fans. Fans are loving these locations to death. The few have spoiled it for the many.

If you are someone considering visiting these locations make certain to show the utmost consideration and respect, not just for the home owners, but for future fans as well.

Dude, it's the OP's conversation, there's no problem, and the first few replies they made were about the topic at hand. It isn't exactly your place to go and interrupt. Everyone read the article you did, the only new information was that now they don't want fans at their house.

Communism was just a red herring!

reply

Calm down.

reply

You're the one who decided to "call out" the person who probably told you about this for having a conversation.

Communism was just a red herring!

reply

I didn't intend to call out anyone, it just seemed that the conversation had strayed away from the topic.

I didn't interrupt anything because the conversation ended three months ago. The thread had fallen off the first page. I responded so that it would be seen.

reply

There wasn't a point to your responding to that thread except to bump it? Why not respond to the original post? It's pretty rude, interruption or not.

Communism was just a red herring!

reply

Sorry sir.

reply

I'll let you off for now son don't you let me catch you doin' it again now.

Communism was just a red herring!

reply

Any update on this situation? Are the owners still discouraging visiting the home?

reply

don't think there are any updates. the owner still prohibits anyone from doing any pictures or anything.
