My question may seem nitpicky but there is one thing that bothers me every time I've watch GJWTHF. When Natalie's father walks her into the banquet room at her debutante ball, everyone oohs and ahhs. Jeff turns to his friend and seems to be offering up words of praise about her as well. It is incredibly difficult to tell what he is saying but it seems to be along the lines of "beautiful, really beautiful." Does anyone know for sure what he is saying? Showing up at a party and eating free food is one thing, but I always thought it odd that he would be praising her considering how much contempt he seemed to have for her.

That's the same thing I thought because it seemed as if he did not like her too much.. But you are right, thats what he said to his friend at the her party.

I could be wrong but with alot of movies they tape scenes out of order and its possible they taped this scene prior to his scene outside the dance studio where he showed his attitude toward her. So Lee (the actor) probably was in a different mind set when he did his comments during this scene.

Another thing is that theres been the notation that him and natalie were meant to be (via her flirtatious manner when inviting him to her party) so he probably has/had feelings for her and choose to express them during her party hence his choice to attend.

I think that despite everything that had happened up to that point in the movie, he still had to admit she was an attractive girl- and he couldn't help but express it when she made her grand entrance.
