Ironically while watching the previews for this tv show made me reminisce about this movie. Both are about two girls trying to get onto a TV dance show in Chicago.
Is this new show based on this movie? If so my guess is that the character of Rocky is supposed to be a version of Helen Hunt's character(very sassy and outspoken).

I thought that too! I haven't seen the show so my opinion is based off ads and promos but it definitely seems to be in the same vein, except that the Disney kids appear to be alot younger. I definitely think this film had an influence on the show: same premise, same city and according to you at least, similar characterisations.
shareBeen avid Disney fan (every since there is nothing on TV during times I have 2 be up for work). So now can't stop watching these shows. Have another thread (within Shake it Up) regarding other representations I noticed w/ the tv show and the 80's and can either assume the producer was on Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or had some sort of influence from movies of the 80's.
