I absolutely LOVE this movie and am in love with Lee Montgomery, but how rude was it that Jeff didn't apologize to Janey after being so mean to her before the contest? Jeff was pissed because J.P. told him he could have his dad fired, so Jeff took his anger out on Janey at their last rehearsal. He never apologized when they met up at the contest; Janey just smooched him. A quick "I'm so sorry Janey" would've been appropriate, ya know?

Agreed. This is one of the huge problems I have with the movie. There is too much left unsaid. He never explained to Janey what exactly was going on, all she got was the message that he was going to be there and she went with it. It didn't make sense.
If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, nobody else wanted them either.
