The Scene Where Fletch Investigates the House...


...And just lights up a cigarette, whats up with that? Why would he be so sloppy doing that? throughout the film up until that point its never implied nor shown that Fletch smokes then suddenly he's lighting up.

Is that a nod to the book version of the character?

The scene is there to show that Fletch has a lighter, which he uses at the end of the movie to light up the gas in Bone-Cancer's house.

Makes sense but they could've at least showed him smoking at a few other points before that though.
