Hopefully someone with this on DVD can help me here...
In the scene at the beginning when Ben is getting pounded by Steve Jackson, the camera pans around the gathered crowd and there's a guy that looks (almost) exactly like I imagine Joaquin Phoenix would have looked back in '85.
Could someone have a look for me and if possible get a screen grab so I can find out if I was just imagining it.

It's not him. There is a kid that looks a bit like him, but when he was fifteen not ten/eleven. It's worth remembering he was a few years younger than River at the time, and the kid watching the fight looks older than River. To see how he looked find a picture of him in 'Spacecamp' (released the year after Explorers) he looked younger than River even then.
shareI dug a little deeper after I'd posted my original message. The kid in Explorers didn't have the scar on his upper lip which I never realised Joaquin has had since before he was born.
At least you could see the similarity which proves I'm not totally insane.
Uh weird, I'm looking for the name of the girl and I think it's in that very scene. I posted pix in another thread and I think your Joaquin lookalike is in two of the pictures (I cropped the others).
