meteor proof little creatures

If anybody remembers the movie. does anybody know what the name of those little creatures that had the meteor proof shells that got eaten by that monster underground. the monster spit out the shell. If anybody knows let me know

Yeah, I remember those little critters. But they were never referred to by name, far as I remember. The problem was, both Davidge and the "Enemy" were from off-world. So there weren't any locals that told them "This animal is a ----"

I think some one from another thread said there's a book. So if anyone read the book, maybe you remember if there was a name for these creatures.

As far as the movie goes, I don't think they knew the proper names of anything on the planet. Its been a long time since I saw the movie, but I think Davidge just gave everything "Earth" names. Like those "football" things, or those "turtle" things.

In the book, Jerry calls them Cuca. Davidge calls them Mock Turtles.

I called it a "fuzzy turtle"..... and the creature in the sand had Fuzzy Turtles on the half-shell... hehe that was my running joke during the movie... hehe. ahem. sorry.
