I bought mine over two weeks ago. I should get it sometime this week, since it was sent to me a few days ago. I also got "Night of the Living Dead" remake as well. I was just curious, who got thier copy before it gets overpriced and out of print, of course.
Got it today. Not a bad transfer, though there are a couple of mildly problematic shots - the one of the fighter pilots running downm the corridor has the same slight smearing as the one on the VD version - but overall it's an improvement. They'e remastered the traiuler in widescreen rather than use the crappy old video master for the trailer and the isolated score is a plus considering Jarre rearranged his score into two long suites on LP.
Thanks for the info. I seen this, a couple of times on VHS as a kid to a young adult. I seen this movie on DVD once. I can't wait to see it again. There was some controversary with the other new Twilight Time blu-ray "Night of the Living Dead" remake with the look of the movie. I hope, i get it by tomorrow or friday. I can't wait to see both movies again. It would have been cool if Twilight Time contacted Wolfgang Petersen to record an running commentary track for "Enemy Mine", i am sure, he has some interesting behind the scenes stories to tell. Since Twilight Time handles movies from 20th Century Fox and Sony, which Blu-ray from Twilight Time, you want to see next.
I know "John Carpenter's Christine" is next on their product due in a couple of months. I would love to see "Alien Nation", "The Blob" remake, "Ghostbusters 2", "Ravenous" and "John Carpenter's Vampires".
If they do "Alien Nation", they should included the original intended score by Jerry Goldsmith as a bonus.
I watched it today. It is worth getting, it is a beautiful transfer. It looks like the movie was only made in a few years instead of 27 years ago. It is hard to believe by looking at this transfer, that this movie was made in 1985. If you are a fan of this film, get it from the Twilight Time website instead paying double or triple the price at eBay.
It has an large cult following today. It is just Sony and 20th Century Fox are not interested releasing some of the better forgotten, cult worthy movies. I thought the strangest one, Twilight Time, got the rights of is "As Good As It Gets". It was such an big hit back in the winter of 1997-1998.
I think "Enemy Mine" stayed true to the original sound audio for theaters. I thought the DTS 4.0 HD MA was great. Sounded great on my sound system. "Night of the Living Dead" remake, the sound was remastered in DTS 5.1 HD MA sound. Which sounded great as well but i know the video transfer got an mixed reaction. Even i thought it at first. I think, it was the way Tom Savini wanted to look back in 1990, maybe he didn't have time to do in post-production or it was the cinematographer wanted the remake to look.
Got the TT blu-ray, and finally watched it. Pretty painful to watch, honestly. It's just too obvious, simplistic, and heavy handed to be enjoyable. Really, a chore to sit through--I guess without the nostalgia this one's destined to be a loser.
