This movie is nothing if not enchanting, magical and a journey into another world that is no longer possible. A lament for a forgotten civilization and way of life.

shareBeautiful to look at and full of adventure, it also stands out for its vivid and compelling dramatization of a first contact between aboriginals and whites and the questions it raises about the contrasting appeals of primitive and modern life. John Boorman has done some good work and this film is one of his finer efforts.
