More bad-ass movies similar to Demons?

Don't recommend Demons 2 because obviously that movie will have similarities to this one. I wish to find more 80's horror movies similar to this one, but I don't mind if you recommend something from the 90's or 2000's. I never seen Jack Brooks Monster Slayer, but noticed the monsters in that movie look a lot like the ones in this one. I feel that movie may have been inspired by the Demons movies or maybe other movies from the 80's. I like when the underdogs in the movie take control of the situation and become the hero. In this movie it was obviously George that was the bad-ass Hero.

First voice that came into my mind was Seymour from Ghostworld, "there are no other records like that."
But if you love the metal/horror combo like I do, I suggest you check out Argento's Opera. It's not his greatest work of all time but it's very fun and plus it has the actress who played Sally in Demons 2.

It is a hommage to his dad's film Black Sunday but it's more like Demons.
