When did she get infected? I don't remember any scene in which she was bitten or scratched. So her turning into a demon at the end didn't make sense.
Also, it should have been told what happened to George in Demons 2.

I always assumed she got scratched when they were escaping via the hole in the roof.
shareI didn't see her get scratched. I remember seeing one of the demons grab her by her dress as they escaped. But there wasn't an indication that she was scratched or bitten in any way.

There was no "reason" to it other then a scary ending.
And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

I love the ending as well. It was really unexpected the first time I saw it. I didn't see it coming. I thought it was going to be a happy ending where Cheryl and George escaped living happily ever after together, but I was certainly wrong.

Moments before she turns you see her reach up and touch a cut below her ear. I think she was just noticing it for the first time and then she turned.
shareAlso George got scratched on his arm by a demon when he was riding the bike in the theatrer to save Cheryl and even with that scratch, George didn't turn into a demon at the film's end like Cheryl did.
