...to kill of certain characters so early, especially Tony the Pimp. Actually, he should've been one of the survivors.

The movie sets up certain characters at the beginning and some of them get killed mere seconds into the whole outbreak (like that bastard husband, I forgot his name, imagine if he lived and treated others like scum, the interactions between him and Tony would've been priceless).

Imo, for me the movie loses some steam near the end because of that, it becomes kind of boring because Cheryl and George aren't so interesting and they're the only ones left.

It becomes clear the writers wrote themselves into a corner and weren't sure what to do when it comes to some scenes.

Don't get me wrong, I like this movie, but it could've been so much better with some changes to the script: characters staying alive for some more time, characters working together more and trying out various tricks to fight and destroy the demons.

Hell, the masked guy should've been present in the cinema as well, acting like the leader of the demons.

Watching it now and I agree. A majority of the characters should've survived at least until the end. There was literally a bunch other no name characters that could've taken the main characters death slots. Watching it now on Hulu.

At least Tony the Pimp survived in spirit to show up in the sequel (albeit with a more upstanding profession as a gym instructor)!

Shame he gets killed again!

Dont worry Tony returns in Demons 2 but he's a fitness instructor lmao...I noticed alot of characters that died in Demons 1 return in Demons 2 but they play different roles.

The fact that characters who are seemingly set up to make it to the end end up getting dispatched unceremoniously is part of the charm with movies like this. I enjoy that lack of predictability.

It seemed like so many characters were dying left in right that I had a hard time keeping track of who was dead and who was alive. There was so much going on that it was impossible to be bored. I agree that I would've liked to see Tony and Rosemary last longer, though.

You have a point as the *beep* husband and Tony the Pimp aka Hank the Gym instructor are interesting characters. I think the film still manages to stay interesting though even after those two are dispatched. Tony does also come back briefly as a demon as well.
