Original script.

Like a lot of people, I thought for a while this was the best of the Romero dead movies and my personal favorite horror movie. But now I honestly think Dawn is the best and probably my favorite horror movie.

Why do I bring this up? Because, after seeing these two again, I've officially truly realized Dawn is actually a beautiful story and satire of survival and consumerism, while Day is incredible more for being entertaining.

But again, why am I brining this up? Because, I remember James Rolfe quoting Tom Savini saying the original script for Day was so big and epic it was the "Ben-Hur" of zombie movies- and George himself covers why he couldn't use it due to ratings red tape. And I believe if George was given the freedom to use his original script with the required budget I'd have no doubt that this easily would have been better than Dawn.

So does anyone know or think that this original script still exists? and if it does should it be brought to the screen even if George doesn't direct it?

The original script is out there somewhere. I read it a few years ago online ( or partial of it) I honestly don’t see how they could ever make it as the parts I read were pretty grand in scale but also just a bit “much”. Example the main idea of it is the whole domesticated zombies, so much that they raise an army of “good zombies” to try to wipe out the bad ones. Just a bit much. I don’t see anyone making it and honestly don’t really want to see it. I loved the original Day and like Dawn a bit more….just leave them alone. They are great as is.

I read it back in 2003. It was okay, but the finished product has an intimate charm that the epic would have lacked.
