Do Evil Dead Fans like this

I just happened to come across this on IMDB looking at Raimi's list of movies and dont recall seeing this at a video store for rental.

Assuming I can find a copy, is this movie generally liked by people who liked the Evil Dead Franchise?

I realize Bruce Campbell is not the main character.

I have always been fond of Evil Dead, ED2, and AoD. I liked Evil Dead 2 as Raimi remade the original ED into a mix of horror and 3 stooges type humor which somehow worked.

Any comments on this film from people who like the ED series?

There are some great Raimi touches and funny dialogue. Its a fun film, no Evil Dead though. Definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of Raimi or Bruce.

I like both Rami and Campbell. Now I just need to figure out where to get hold of this film.

Just watched it, and I found it pretty similar in tone to Evil Dead 2. I'd say if you like Raimi and the Evil Dead films, then this is definitely a must see. It is insane and hilarious.

I grew up on this movie.. watched it untill my copy on video was totally *beep*
I was totally taken in by the cartoon feel to it and the sometimes weird camera work.. think my favotite part is the skit with the cigarettes and the glovecompartment and ofcourse the infamous "where did you get the negro Butch"??
And I think I saw it before i even knew about Evil Dead.. so when I first watched that I went "hey... that's Renaldo from Crime Wave"

I watched it not long ago again after almost 20 years.. and I think it still holds up pretty well..

If your a true fan of Evil Dead 1 and 2 you with like this. The dry and dark humor alone is worth the watch. On the technical side Sam uses his traditional slanted camera angles and cartoonish sound effects in the film. Some of the sound effects from Evil Dead 1 and 2 also are in this film.

There is actually a tie in to "Evil Dead II" in this film.

In the storm scene, a newspaper blows in the wind and then is focused on by the camera. It's headline says "STORM! City in Chaos" but a smaller headline on the page reads "Military seals off Tennessee murder site. Time-space disturbance discovered."

This is a reference to Sam Raimi's film "Evil Dead II" which Raimi was writing at the time.
