The key to the cupboard?

As many times as I've seen this movie, I still don't understand how this happened. Wadsworth locks all the weapons inside of the cupboard with a key that he puts in his pocket. And then after he lets the motorist in, Wadsworth throws out the cupboard key(supposedly). How in the hell did someone open the cupboard when the key was thrown outside somewhere?

-Did Wadsworth throw out the wrong key by mistake? I'm asking this question because Colonel Mustard was supposedly the one who took the key from Wadsworth's pocket. Wadsworth had to have had more than one key in his pocket and should've notice that one was missing.

-Did someone pick the lock to the cupboard? This is the only way the cupboard could've been opened without the key.

I'm asking because there was never a clear explanation of how the cupboard was opened. It just doesn't make sense. Anyone?

The explanation Wadsworth gives is very brief and very fast, and it's easy to miss. When he gets to the point where he's opening the door for the motorist, he gives this explanation:

Wadsworth: "The motorist! I didn't throw the key away, I put it in my pocket, and someone could have taken it out of my pocket and substituted another."

Professor Plum: "We were all in a huddle, any one of us could have done that!"

Wadsworth: "Precisely!"

Now, you have to really suspend disbelief to buy that one of the guests would not only have a key on them that could pass for a key to the cupboard, but also be able to reach into Wadsworth's pocket and swap the keys without Wadsworth or any of the other guests noticing. But you have to suspend disbelief for a lot of stuff that happens in this movie.

Put your signature in italics or something so I don't mistake it as part of your post.

He substituted the key from the lounge door. That's why Yvette had to shoot the lock.
