Can someone explain some dialogue to me?

Some of the dialogue sounded *garbled* to me, so bear with me:

When the group are first sitting down to dinner, Wadsworth quotes Tennyson.
Then Col. Mustard says he prefers Kipling, and quotes him.
Here's where it gets garbled to me:
Col Mustard [holds out tray of food to Miss Scarlet] "Would you/Do You(???) like Kipling Miss Scarlet?"
Miss Scarlet: "Sure, I'll eat anything."

 What?!!

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

She thinks it's the food instead of the writer Rudyard Kipling.

I figured this was the case, that Miss Scarlett didn't even recognize the literary reference.
Thanks.

Right before he asks her if she likes Kipling, he quoted Kipling's "the female of the species is deadlier than the male."
