Why would being frozen kill the soul but not the body?

And if you believe the soul leaves the body upon death, where was his soul when his body was resurrected?

I mean, if it avoids the Christian tripe this could be a very deep and existential premise for a movie.

I think they freeze people after they die, not before they die.

A priest in the movie ponders the question of the soul but it's never made clear if the freezing came before or after death.

The fact that the fellow was flatlined before and after his kidney transplant makes it looks like he was frozen dead.

Christian or not, I think with this movie, and a good many others, you are stuck with the concept of the soul.

The idea being that when the soul has left the body, something else can take up residence. So, the soul goes wherever a particular religious tradition believes... Heaven, hell, reincarnation, whatever. The only alternative is some notion that when the brain is dying, malign forces can take over the body, which simply assumes the existence of "evil spirits" but not souls.

Well, not to be that guy, but that's the whole premise of the movie.
