What happened to the terrorists at the end of the film?

I always wondered this.

At the end of Back To The Future, Marty returns to 1985 and witnesses the Libyan terrorists chasing his past self. The DeLorean vanishes, and go crashing into that little hut thing. What did they do then? Just get up and leave?

Doc put on a bullet proof vest, but he didn't really do anything to stop them or subdue them. If they'd have gotten up after crashing, and looked over at Doc they'd have seen him there with Marty. The least Doc could've done is play dead long enough for them to leave. And even then, you'd assume they'd try to attack Marty again. From their perspective, Marty might've disappeared in the car. But he never actually left.

Why did they stop being a threat just because Doc had a bullet proof vest on?

They got caught in the fire trail of the time travelling Delorean and crashed their van into the photo booth. It wasn't shown but they were probably knocked out and Marty and Doc called the authorities to pick them up or (unlikely) just left them there.
