did making his home / family life better affect his rock and roll future ?

making him lose his edge and struggles therefore having nothing really relatable in the rock n roll sense to sing about.

We'll never know.

Bear in mind though, we never knew if Marty did have a Rock & Roll future. The only future we saw him live was the one where he'd injured himself, and couldn't play guitar. We know that future had been erased by the end of the third film, and Marty promised Doc that he'd make his future a good one. We can probably assume that was a Rock Star future, but we don't know that for sure.

In the original 1985 movie, we see that Marty was too nervous to put himself out there for fear of rejection. So who knows what the future would've been like with no time travel involved?

They don't specifically mention it in the film...but at the end of BTTF when Marty wakes up and comes out to the kitchen he has a manila envelope. It is explained, I think in the DVD commentary, that the envelope contains the demo tape that Marty was not confident enough to send out prior to the events of the film.
