Tom Holland was in talks for a remake.
I'm not even a big fan of this movie but come on, Hollywood.

shareI think its all just rumours started by this "deepfake" video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OJnkJqkyio
then holland said:
"I’d be lying if I said there hadn’t been conversations in the past about doing some sort of remake, but that film is the most perfect film- or one of the most perfect films, one that could never be made better. That said, if [Robert Downey Jr.] and I could just shoot that one scene that they remade for fun – he could pay for it cause he’s got loads of money – I would do it for my fee and we could remake that scene. I think we owe it to deep fake because they did such a good job. … I think I’m gonna speak to Robert and see if we can try to recreate something for deep fake."
....
Zemeckis went on to say, “That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”

I'm pretty sure if they did remake it it would be the biggest flop ever , no one would see it on principle.
It would be 100x worse than the flack Ghostbusters 2016 got.

A remake would be terrible because the past would be 1990 and the world of 1990 isn't all that different from 2020 as the 1950s were from 1985.
shareGood point. Except for mobile devices and internet....things look very much the same and clothing and hair styles have not drastically changed as well. I would say the 1980's was the last decade you can identify by hair and clothing styles.
share80s fashion is very reminiscent of 50s fashion. It's the same difference between the 2020s and 80s.
shareHeh. People in the 80s probably said the same thing about 50s. The 90s are actually very different from the present.
shareI have no idea who Tom Holland is.
He could walk up to next to me and I wouldn't have clue.
...
But this is not my favorite all time film, but I think it could very well be the greatest film ever made...
Tom Holland is no Michael J. Fox. Not by a long shot even. And Back to the Future is perfect the way it is.
