The Call and What Are Friends For? (Spoilers)

Did anyone else find themselves very moved by these two episodes and/or depressed?

I thought that The Call had the happier of the two endings in a sense. The concept could have been really quiet silly if it hadn't been done so tenderly. Next time I dial a wrong number, I will no doubt think of this.

For me, What Are Friends For? really hit home. The idea of a friend that comes when we need them most is quiet touching, especially in the case of a lonely child. I couldn't help but feel for Mike and his desire to remain "real." However, I was confused by his saying that he woke up only when Alex arrived. If Mike was indeed a manifestation of an earth spirit, why didn't he have the freedom to always be even without Alex or Jeff? Lucas Haas really pulled at my heart in this one.
