a boy who gets lost in the woods?

I'm not sure if this was a Twilight Zone episode at all..but maybe someone who reads this board recognizes it anyway!
When I was little (probably late 80's, maybe start of the 90's), I saw this short film or episode about a boy who lived with his mom in a little cabin.
The boy goes out to play or for a walk or something, while the mother prepares dinner. Then I think he gets lost in the woods. I vaguely think I remember him meeting a strange man on the road, but I might be wrong. And I also remember something about a big waterfall in said forest. And I wonder if he falls into it or something..
Finally after a horrifying journey through the forest, he finally sees his home, and think's he is safe. But then he sees his mother's silhouette in the window, and it looks like a witch!
He is terrified, and she comes out. but then she is normal after all (or maybe it's just my brain who made a happy ending, because I was traumatized, because it was too cary for a little girl like me)

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Please? I have wondered about this for like 20 years now..
