Thundercats Re-released DVD boxset!

Its probably been addressed several times by us T-Cats fans. But the current DVD set by Warners isn't up to standard, not at all!

So considering many fans post on here, lets see if we can brainstorm some ideas for a re-released version of the series on DVD as ask ourselves whether or not if some realistic theroies to a 'double-dip' done right would work.

1) Which DVD Company?

What DVD outlet would overall be better than the previous one that released the first T-Cats DVD edition in 4 volumes?

Rhino, Koch Entertainment, Fabulous Films, Gonzo.

Rights issues aside, those companies put out incredible DVD and treat their properties or licensed products with care and respect. Warners, Wil Wheaton talk ing on the T-Cats DVD's is hardy considered a decent effort far as Thundercats relating content.

2) Remastering Process

Take whatever source is needed to make an all-new print in a far more crystal clear in HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. Because the previous set isn't up to scratch. The original mono-track can still be an option to listen to, but any newer DVD re-release should be given the 5.1. & 7.1. Surround Sound and DTS treatment in this day and age.

And seperate audio track to listen to the series music. Also should note, lets have no copyrights issues far as the 'audio' to the series theme music goes neither.

3) DVD Extras

Featurettes based on the storyboards, conceptual artwork, TV Spots, promos and Series Trailers over the years (original 1985 and cartoon network), series toy commercials, voiceover artist/cast interviews, episode commentaries, multiple language tracks, crew biographies, image galleries, DVD-ROM content i.e. episode scripts as PDF files!, slideshow of character art.

4) DVD Set packaged Bonus Materials

A 32 page booklet based on the series with an episode guide, dates of airings, production info, Cast bios. would be a grand idea akin to a series bible with Thundercats artwork on the cover on such a 'T-Cats Booklet' etc (see* the French Thundercats set?).

Series 'promo poster' as a collectable item in the DVD boxset ('A MUST'). Several Thundercats photo postcards perhaps?

5) Episodes Placed In Production Order

"A MUST FOR ANY SERIES" and not out of order, like for example, showing the 'Anointment Trials' out of place rather than in their proper order one after another would be clear sign of the entire seasons being shown properly this time round!

6) Exodus Pilot episode. Extended/Director's Cut

The VHS Exodus episode extended pilot footage remastered and placed back into the pilot. If that isn't possible, at least place the footage on there in supplemental section on the DVD/Blu-Ray in such a Thundercats series DVD re-release?

Same goes for the series character promos at the very beginning.

Well, hope that gets some thoughts stirring as to what could be possible should fans want to see Thundercats get treated properly on DVD should Warners be tempted into releasing the series a 2nd time on DVD. Maybe with the new CGI film production of Thundercats, would actually allow for such a revist to the original series in this manner.

What do you think! Any smart DVD suggestions and ideas to add to this discussion!

I can't believe nobody's gone for this?

Its probably whats missing in terms of new Thundercats related merchandise. overall Warners messed up the original DVD releases of Thundercats. A brand new re-release is whats badly needed here. Even with news of Warners possibly planning a new movie feature, has the T-Cats boards on IMDB.com died now, this place was alot busier with activity a few years ago.

Still got hopes this threead will inspire somebody, and hopefully it'll be somebody who's got their foot in the door of a production office or a business type that'll push for something like this to happen.

Should i post this thread of mine over at "HomeTheaterForum" T-Cat fans?

Might be the right place for it!

Nobody's gone for it because it would cost Warners way more money than they'd make selling this.

There's no way in Hell they'd re-release them with the specs you're demanding.

Which is a great shame.

Actually, I've thought of a spec myself for this - you mentioned getting the episodes in the right order, I'd go one step further, and have the fans put the episodes into the best order for continuity purposes. A few obvious examples are:

The Spaceship Beneath The Sands - should definitely come before Lord Of The Snows, because of the Mutants' technology issues.
The Time Capsule/Return To Thundera - should be adjacent in viewing order.
Lord Of The Snows/All That Glitters - should also be adjacent. I might also say they should be after Return To Thundera, regarding the introduction of Vultureman.
The Fireballs Of Plun-Darr - should come after Safari Joe and Turmagar The Tuska, on account of Tygra's learning to swim. (Actually, I recently picked up an old Thundercats Annual, which contained this episode in comic strip form, and it had Tygra state that it happened after "Safari Joe", and that he'd learned to swim since then!)

Well they SHOULD go for this sort of thing StanleyTheManley! You act and sound like studios don't have the money, And its Warners Brothers we're talking about one of these biggest film and television companies out there. And we're hardly talking about a production they couldn't handle if they organsied themselves properly to do this sort of project the right kind of justice overall!

Its not like Warners is a much smaller DVD company that owns the copyrighs to an animated series that they weren't caperble of producing quality 'high level' product. There's a term for what Warners did with the current thundercats set of DVD's. "LAZY"!I like high quality stuff as do many other T-cats fans surely do. why shouldn't i voice my complaints like they did a good job on the first set (Not) when they so clearly didn't to begin with?

I'll cost money sure, But a company like Warners could easily effort to do so if they got off their butts and made a far superior effort!

Thanks much appreaciated. This is something any fan could do for a big set of *fan edit* DVD's, if they so wanted and envisioned. So please feel free to copy & paste and print the list anytime if you want o.k.!

And another thing StanleyTheManley...

Many 80 cartoons from Thundercats' competition 'Era' (the 80's) on the airwaves back then have also received the proper DVD treatment as i've pointed out above. Cos there isn't a Thundercats fan here who didn't wish T-Cats on DVD hadn't been released by the former BCI/Ink & Paint group before they went under and closed due to going all bankruped.

THEY KNEW HOW TO DO DVD'S O.K.

If your making excuses for Warner Brothers thats your business. But if Warners went to another group that handled the DVD's as well as Ink & Paint did. The re-release that i've outlined above for Thundercats would be put to shame and thensome. Try and have a little "vison" before dampening out the fires of passion fans have of seeing a proper DVD (re-)release of Thundercats on DVD/HD-DVD being done correctly huh? I'll give out some links soon, then we'll have bigger examples of what i'm talking about.

But i take it everyone else gets the 'gist' of where i'd be going with this thing anyhow.
