Will there ever be a new animated series of The ThunderCats? I love the ThunderCats and I would love to see a new animated series of them. Maybe we need to write letters to the people that owns the rights to ThunderCats?
Listen i'll get back to you on this in a few days time. Had an old thread that brought up ideas for an updated T-Cats version. And luckly i saved it, so let me find it and up it back up and we'll see if it can be something Warners could be petitioned to, to see happen!
I'm working out ideas for a Thundercats show. I love that show and I running ideas and some story plot in my head right now. I can't ever do anything with it, but hey, I'm working out the ideas for if I ever do.
It's been rumored for a few years now that there is either A) a new show in the works or B) a possible live action film in the works. Neither has materialized yet, but we've all got our fingers crossed.
There was also a rumor about a Thundercats series that made them a teenaged rock band living on Earth with Snarf as their manager. There was even a quote unquote "character design" of the "New" Lion-O that made him all skinny & scrawny & rail thin floating around the web for a while. Fortunately, that rumor never came to be.
I know you just put down the link and all, but i gotta copy and paste just to get a feeling of what was reviewed over there on that site and all ya know!
Here's what we know so far about the new Thundercats, coming to Cartoon Network in 2011.
The kittens are all grown up
The idea is a more 21st-century-style look to the Thundercats. Check out the first image of Lion-O, dark and flexing his sword for the kill shot. It's still animated, but more of a gritty adaptation of anime than the basic colors of an '80s afternoon cartoon show.
It will reveal the origins of Lion-O
The press release promises the new series will tell the origin story of Prince Lion-O's ascension to the throne, and his battles with the forces of evil for the Stones of Power. The release calls it "a sweeping tale combining swords and science boasting ferocious battles with the highest stakes."
They'll still be good role models
The press release also assures us that the Thundercats will still learn something each week. "Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons about loyalty, honor and morality in every episode," the press release says.
They're more feline than ever
The press release promises more realistic cat characteristics than ever before. Not sure how those rippling biceps fit in, but "Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, Panthro, Cheetara and others will spring off the screen with realistic cat-like characteristics inconceivable in previous incarnations," it says.
It'll kick ass!
Executive producer Sam Register promises epic action in the new series. "ThunderCats marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy," Register says in the press release. "The realism and dynamic visual style we've achieved are sure to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should help the show appeal to a diverse audience."
Like the new Batman cartoons? Then you'll love the new Thundercats
Warner Brothers Animation, producers of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, are spearheading the new Thundercats. They're employing Studio 4°C, animators of Gotham Knights, so this version has all the makings of a dark, grown-up action epic. Producer Michael Jelenic and executive producer Register also have credits on Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
If you loved it before, you'll love it again
The mission statement of the press release emphasizes that "the new Thundercats will appeal to viewers who have loved the characters all their lives as well as young newcomers to the franchise."
A new generation will chant "Thundercats ho!"
Warners isn't looking only to win back old fans. It has its sights on your kids, too. "This collaboration combines the strengths of our two companies," Studio 4°C president and CEO Erik Tanaka said in the press release. "High production values and great storytelling, toward reintroducing this classic fan-favorite to a new audience."
Interesting, very interesting to hear of! But we'll see won't we.
hmmm?
Sounds like it trying to go the MYP (Mike Young Productions) route like they did with the 2002 Masters Of The Universe version. But is this Thundercats a reboot or outright continuation of the classic T-Cats 80's series? There isn't a clear cut answer here, if talk of Lion-O's origin is brought up?
Maybe this new series will have a closer look at it or approach it from a different perspective. The reviewer here is probably just very poor at giving us all the information, until more info drops however this is just news thats being put out there for us to chew on! We all await teasers, trailers and new pictures all along with any new information and proper reviews upcoming for this new Thundercats in 2011.
ComicCon 2010 will possibly provide the big revelations regarding the new series!
I just heard an interview with Larry Kenney last week, he's doing the voice of Claudus - and he says that in this version of the cartoon, Claudus is not only Lion-O's father, but Tygra's father as well.
Is anyone else getting echoes of "Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves", with the bitter Will Scarlett turning out to be Robin's half-brother? (In any event, I prefer the Errol Flynn version of Robin Hood from 1938.)

Say that again?
Is Tygra the older brother, half lion/half tiger brother of Lion-O? Making Tygra Claudis older son seems weird and why? i've always wanted Tygra to be more important, and he is the second-in-command and head of the ThunderCats' council! But Tygra also a son of Claudis???!

I think that's exactly the way it will go. I think Tygra will be the "Bastard" son who feels resentment toward Lion-O, who he feels superior to in experience and intellect.
That would create some nice dramatic tension, though I'll admit I'm a sucker for the unity and camaraderie in "Thundercats" and other 80's cartoons like it because, well, there's so little of it in real life .
