I still enjoy "Thundercats" but season 2 had too many new characters. Lynxo and the other 2 new Thundercats were fine. But there were too many new villains and it just really felt like the show was kind of "jumping the shark".
Maybe I was just in a bad mood and need to rewatch it.
I don't think much of the later series either. Mind you, I didn't see it as a kid, I only saw it for the first time a couple of years ago when I borrowed my friend's DVDs. Either way, I can't stand the Lunataks.
Didn't mind the 3 new ThunderCats and later on Jagura (ThunderCat sorcessor) as well. At all for season 2 or the fact they kinda made new villains. Only that the series jumped the shark when new Thundera was introduced via Mumm-Ra's spell is all. And Lion-O used the 'Sword Of Omens' way too much, it became a massive writer's *crutch*! Hope he doesn't depend on it too much in any new series as he did in season 2 of the old T-Cat series.
I did like the episode in season 2 with a flashback scene showing a young Jaga. He was using the Sword of Omens against an ancestor I guess of Rataro. Kind of cool seeing Jaga say "Ho!" and use the sword like Lion-O did.
I loved the new additions. I thought the "Mumm'Ra Lives" series of episodes after the movie was great But toward the later episodes, they made all the villains into pitiful jokes, which really destroyed any level of suspense when I was a kid.
The "reformation of Thundera" stuff was fine at first, but the show jumped the shark once they actually moved back there.
New character additions = more action figures to sell.
I don't remember series 2 airing on television originally (watching it now on DVD), but recall all the toy figures in the shops and not having a clue who half of them were from the cartoon?
Far too many .
-- 'cause I'll suck you in my son. I'll suck you so far in you'll get blown out the other side! --

I guess you're from the UK then, same as me! I don't remember ever seeing the second season as a kid. When I borrowed my friend's DVD of season 2, there was no familiarity.
Of course, as I watched the season all the way through, I figured that maybe it wasn't shown over here for a reason!
