Thundercats statues

It's taken bloody years to get around to but finally it looks like they've gotten around to producing actual statues of the Thundercats license!

Hmmm? Only two statues announced so far with Lion-O and Cheetara,plus such a low limited number quality of statues available on Pre-Order. one has to wonder if anybody outside of a couple of fans will even see and own these. While the news of such a release is neat to hear of, its also quite lackluster in that the statues aren't even widely available nor are seen as viable cos of the low numbers of those produced (less than 500?).

Also the Lion-O statue's pose isn't the best, good but not great. Nor is it as deatiled as say the fomrer Four Horsemen statues of the 'Masters Of The Universe' collection. Which produced highly detailed statues by comparison. The Lion-O statue that there to look at, has a face thats too brightly coloured and kinda cartoon-ish, not at all how Lion-O's face is at all. And the painted detail isn't as accurate neither.

Still news of this development is good in that finally Thundercats is getting something out there again. And perhaps it'll turn into something bigger in the long run if the market for the statues/busts is supported enough by collectors and avid buyers of Thundercats merchandise!

One wonders what and who's next in their line up. As we've all got characters we'd like to see be made into statues.

I personally want to see;

* Tygra.

* Jaga (Spirit/and Pre-spirit versions)

* Grune The Destroyer. (And possibly his Pre-traitor 'Thundercat' version with both sabretooths)

* Mumm-Ra The Ever-Living. 'very buffed version' (with the Sword Of Plun-Darr)

* Cheetara.

* Pumyra.

* Panthro.

* Hachiman.

They'll probably different sets of T-Cats statues with special collector versions made available etc. Mutant sets, Thundercats, The New Thundercats, Thundercat allies, The Lunataks, Evil 3rd Earthers etc. I'm betting it'll be interesting to see if they'll release these with a much wider availability though.

What do you Thundercats fans think of all this though!

I've never been a big statue/bust collector, and a limited high end piece seems an odd way to jump back into "Thundercats" merchandising after a 20 year absence IMO. I would much prefer a new action figure line similar to the re-do of "Masters of the Universe" from 2002; faithful but updated versions of the classic characters. That line had a new cartoon to back it up though, so I doubt we'll see a new "Thundercats" action figure line unless/until they make a movie [Which is now on hold] or re-launch the cartoon.

I agree %100. I'm not crazy about the Lion-O stature either, but I hope it sells well and this ushers in a new era of "Thundercats" collectibles.
