Episode where the Spirits of Evil Reclaimed Mumm-Ra

I would swear that there is an episode, possibly towards the end of the series, where during the climax, the Spirits of Evil rejected mumm-ra’s plea to transform into his muscled form, and instead they severely scolded him for his bungling, and then at least one giant hand comes out of the sky and grabs Mumm-Ra, taking him back to the netherworld.

I think you 're referring to the episode "the Last Day" where the Spirits of Evil give Mum-Rah one last chance to defeat the ThunrCats and endow him with super powers that will only last for 24 hours, after which time if he hasn't destroyed them all they will banish him to another dimension (similar to the Phantom Zone from Superman).
