Remake: Yay or nay?

'Cause I was thinking of taking a page from "Rome's" book and adapt it into a limited TV series.

Every summer or midseason, there's twelve episodes the chronicles the events of John Jakes' first novel in the trilogy. The next summer or midseason after that adapts the other book and the next one after that is the third book.

For HBO or TNT.

Not a remake, but something comparable. I love period pieces and there just aren't enough out there.

Sorry, I don't think they would make it any better. I kind of got aquainted to the actors portraying their roles a little bit too much, and there's tons of other good material out there depicting the past.
I recently read something about the history of New York and I thought this was an interesting topic to make a mini-series about.

I know this will probably be quite unpopular but let me say that I loved the books and there is so much in there that got left out of the miniseries For example Cooper and Judith, for me one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the book is when their son dies after their ship is blown up. The fact that Bent's character was completely changed and merged with another in also puzzling to me and I love his "death" in book two. I am also highly amused by the fact that Justin was shot in the bum by his own men. So much better than the fight with Orry. I could go on and on about things that didn't make it that I would have loved to have seen. Some of which help to explain character actions later such as Bent and Charlie's interactions in Texas.I understand why there are cuts and alterations but it would be lovely to see them. I really wish that the scenein Heaven and Hell where Virgilia and Willa help to save Mount Royal could have stayed. It was nice to see Virgilia helping the Mains after all that had happened and made me like her so much more.
In light of all these facts I would love to see it remade. Also the reenactor in me would love it if the women weren't wearing eyeshadow through out the entire series and they didn't run around in ball/dinner gowns 24/7.
I do love the orginal (sans book three) but I think you could shoot the books again without taking away from the original miniseries.

Nay!! You can't get no better than that.

I'm leaning towards nay. But if they ever do remake it, there's only one man who could play George: Nathan Fillion. He's a bit old for the part, but whenever I rewatch N&S, I always automatically picture Fillion playing George. Must be the twinkle in his eye and his boyish charm. :-)

I didn't like the Godfather, so what?

Nay and nay

I'd like to see them do one closer to the books (including the history at the beginning would be neat). But I am afraid if they did that, it'd ruin the fantasy.

I say no, but if they ever do remake this, Lindsay Lohan(when she straitens up) and Kristen Stuart would be good choices for Virgilia and Madeline.
