I 've just finished watching Part 1, and am horrified by some of these characters...David Carradine is worse than anyone in "Roots", and Ashton makes
Scarlett OHARA look like Mother Teresa.

DAVID CARRADINE, PHILIP CASNOFF, ASHTON, ISABEL, OR VIRGILIA ??
Oh, I almost forgot....the Main plantation foreman who whips the slaves
N & S was, basically, a SOAP. And like all the soaps on daytime t.v. it reveled in evil characters. 3/4 of the characters in this miniseries are despicable. My vote for MOST despicable goes to David Carradine. Most despicable AND crazy goes to Casnoff.

Ashton, because she was raised in a loving family, and should have known better. We don't know David Carradine or Philip Casnoff's backgrounds. Nor Isabel's. Virgilia, I think she was just a fanatical zealot, but she seemed to have love for the downtrodden.
