To be sure, no nation is truly old. All nations are a mailable melting pot of different ideas and traditions. You look at one of the oldest 'nations' on the planet (Iran, which can sorta trace it's history back to Persia), and I'm pretty sure an ancient Persian wouldn't recognise the 'traditions' or 'national identity' of Iran. In 200 years time, a time traveling Iranian from 2016 wouldn't recognise the 'traditions' or 'national identity' of whatever will be Iran in 200 years time!
