Anti-Church storylines

With Jack breaking his vows, a few extras sayings all priests are pervs, Simone being abused in the past by a priest. Piper thinking that the whole church is at fault and brainwashing, this planned pregnancy class and now someone who is transgender feeling unwelcome at Blaze, I am seriously wondering how many more things they are going to throw in all because they now have a religious main character.

I have absolutely nothing against planned pregnancy and I don't judge people on anything but their actions and attitude, but it really annoys me that they are only playing all this out as a anti-church plot and extra tension between Jack and Paige. This is not a storyline about a pregnant teenager or someone who is transgender, this are just objects for a anti-church/jack story.

How much more?

Also can Paige really ask the council to remove the church from Blaze? Not only is she not officially running Blaze, I thought that the church was the main reason why Blaze was allowed the contract.

Paige was very obnoxious in her last scene in that episode and it seems to be at least as much getting at Jack as helping troubled teens.

I agree, if Jack wasn't involved or didn't disagree with it, Paige would not be as obsessed with getting the programme going.

The behaviour of both Jack and Paige has gone too far for any relationship to ever happen. Even if Jack did leave the church, he would still have his religion, which is one thing that Paige is against. It would never work without Jack completely changing who he is.

The whole thing needs to end now, Jack has good scenes with other character and Paige is already set up with her family. They don't need each other in any way.

Paige is just so annoying

And I really think Jack and Paige have gone too far to have any sort of relationship now. I like Jack and there seems to be a sort of innocence about him but this story has gone on far too long now

I've been talking in one of the threads about this and I'm starting to think the anti-church stuff is completely intentional, not just because they happen to have a priest character, if that makes sense. Like there's a writer who's against the church or something like that.

It's really obvious that they are taking digs at the church.

These stories aren't about 'x', it's about using 'x' as a excuse to attack the church, which then causes tension between Jack and Paige.

Shouldn't people be offended that gay people, transgender people, unmarried pregnant women and even abuse victims are being used to just cause tension between Jack and Paige?

The story isn't about these individuals or groups of people, it's about finding a excuse to use as an attack.

More than obvious, but yeah, it's super clear.

Like you say, I feel like attacking the church is separate, to an extent, to causing tension for Jack and Paige. Like it is causing the tension, but the digs happen and are digs, regardless of the Jack and Paige stuff. If they weren't taking the digs, they'd find other tension for Jack and Paige. There's probably, even with the priest thing, a lot of other ways they could do it if they wanted to, instead of throwing potshots at the church every chance they get.

Like... I still hate this, so it must've worked, but back when the old priest was around, they had Paige in a red dress (scarlet woman) and he told her that guys like Jack don't go for girls like her and as far as I saw, she never told Jack about it, so that was more like letting the old priest get his anti-woman thing on (which is probably the part that makes me furious even now).

I agree. It's very interesting that when it comes to Aaron they haven't had Jack be offended by him, and that he was even shown to be compassionate to David who is clearly confused and barely coming out to himself. It may turn out to be "love the sinner, hate the sin" BS, which I'm hoping it doesn't, but right now, it's not been used as a weapon with the gay regulars. All the characters causing tension have been either mentioned or probably one off.

It seems strange the amount of digs they are having at the church just seems a bunch of storylines to get Paige and Jack arguing and disagreeing. Surely the church aren't anti everything coming up in this day and age.

reply

Unfortunately, they are. Like Piper said the other day, a bunch of old men in Rome make all the decisions for what people can and can't do according to the church. A group of old men in Rome who have no real life experience, I add.
