I like Elly now

Why did they introduce her as such a horrible person? Remember when we thought she must have a brain tumour because of calling Piper a "skank"? They've started writing her as a more reasonable person now, why didn't they do that in the first place?

reply

I never thought she had a brain tumour, I thought she had a migraine, as it was explained in the show itself.

And people wonder why I think the Piper love can get OTT.

For drama, of course. Characters grow and change.

reply

Whatever. Seemed obvious she was supposed to be a bad person at first and they've changed their minds.

reply

That's where I disagree completely. She was never supposed to be a bad person in the first place. She was never presented as one. I agree that she's changed and developed over time, and has even improved as a character in some ways, but I disagree that it's from a bad person to a good one.

reply

Elly is morally ambiguous as in you don't know whether she's bad or good or just a bitch which is a first for a neighbours character.

reply

I think Paul can be ambiguous as well, but I definitely agree that Elly is more so.

reply

I disagree about Paul, I think he comes over way too needy with the occasional naughty behaviour when he's bored and out of fictional diseases or long lost relatives to have inflicted on himself.

reply

Paul always wins me back because he's so gosh darned funny.

Me too, loved his line to Steph on Friday "let me guess, all is not well in the world of 'let's all have a baby together'.

reply

I think he can be ambiguous in that it's not always clear whether it's altruistic (he does have some) or mercenary motives for what he's up to. Sometimes it's even both.
