Steph

I thought the surrogacy was so she didn't inherit Steph's MH issues and she's too fragile to handle the hormones of pregnancy. Since they're using her egg, is it just because of the latter?

I can't/won't have kids due to my own physical AND MH issues, but they are very prevalent in my family, so I guess it's not as big of a deal/risk for the Scully genes.

I think it's more that the MH issues for Steph could come up, especially if she goes off her meds while she's pregnant? Plus she is a little older so that may be an issue as well, and given she's had chemo, that may even be a reason not to.

reply

Aaah, that makes sense.

reply

I check the "Neighbours" board and there are two threads
Steph
Brooke

And for a moment I'm like, hang on is this the "Bold and the Beautiful" board? haha

reply

Sorry, they were my threads. I don't watch BandB

reply

Lol! This is totally fine. I thought it was hilarious and cool haha.

reply

I like both Brooke & Steph in Neighbours, I hope their BandB counterparts are good characters too.

reply

I think they are, very polarising at times, but generally good and interesting characters. Or Stephanie was, but she left a bit ago now.

Of course we also know that Neighbours Brooke is a fan of B&B's Brooke, which I think is fun :)

reply

I definitely remember her going off her meds being an issue when they were first discussing it.

reply

Yeah, that makes total sense. I forgot she said she'd have to go off her meds.

reply

Yes.

I am also wondering now if she might actually be pregnant already. Though that's probably the preview being misleading of course.

reply

There is defo more to it...

reply

It was the preview being misleading. But interesting idea...

reply

Wouldn't pregnancy have shown up at the egg scraping session though?

I hope she is preggas.

reply

I would think so, and no, they shot the possibility down, it was that her eggs weren't viable to make babies.

reply

I think it will be Sonya's baby now - very weird situation - plus Eve is more likely to pregnant that Carla.

It is terribly odd but sort of fun in some ways for the story. Very true.

reply

I can't see how this is going to go...one day next week says that Steph as a bombshell for Mark...

 It's indie rock and roll for me 

reply

It seems Steph has changed her mind about the surrogacy again

SPOILERS

She even asks Sonya to take the morning after pill. I wonder whar causes her to change her mind so dramatically

reply

She'd been having some insecurities, hence seeing Victoria, and what Victoria and Paul said just confirmed them, I think.

Oh, and does that mean that Victoria and Mark's boss were a couple? I think Mark's boss (can't remember her name) said it was her and Victoria that had issues with in vitro.

Yes it seems that way.

reply

I like that. Tying in characters so they're not just random background people. Plus it's nice to see gay/bi characters around who aren't the regulars.

reply

I hadn't put 2 and 2 together, but yes, I like that connection. It also kinda explains why everyone respects Victoria's opinions on personal stuff so much.

Steph's behaviour has been reckless, irresponsible, and inconsiderate. I totally get why she would have issues with it all, but her approach has been totally *beep* up.

reply

It was when Victoria was talking about her troubles with in vitro and I remembered Mark's boss talking about it too. It does make sense, very much so. I do think she's a counsellor as well of course.

It really has, though I do think Sonya's was from the beginning, all but pushing them into it in the first place, as well. Steph probably went along thinking she could handle it, and then when she couldn't, she reacted badly and at the worst possible time.

reply

I think you're right - I really like that connection.

Yeah, Sonya really pushed it - too much. I do kinda feel a bit bad for Steph, but she has made a rod for her own back.
