I'm surprised Madison didn't get nominated!

reply

She has for best new talent (no chance !)

reply

Depends on who votes, really.

reply

Were they voted by judges?

reply

They don't get voted by judges... (the awards called 'Best' used to be called Most popular, more appropriate term, but they changed that for whatever reason last year). From what I understand Networks put forward their nominees themselves for the initial shortlist and that's what the public votes for.

That is completely ridiculous! Besides, Fifi's hardly acted. I'd be less annoyed if it was someone else, even Jodi Anasta's at least an actual actress and has done some decent stuff this year, or even Arielle Kaplan even though she left, but Fifi?

My days of not taking most acting awards seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

EDIT: I just went and checked, and that's not right at all?

The best actress nominations are from other shows, and while Mavournee's wonderful, none of the ones I know are undeserving of being nominated. And Fifi definitely isn't nominated. Nor is Sarah Ellen.

I went to this site: http://www.tvweeklogieawards.com.au/news/articles/2016/4/full-list-of-2016-tv-week-logies-nominees/

reply

I was getting this from the Neighbours Facebook page.

reply

Maybe they were under consideration? Or the show was pushing them? I still don't get why Mavournee wasn't at least considered, though, in that case. I think they can only have five nominees and it's a popularity vote except for the Most Outstanding Actor/Actress which I think is voted on by professionals?

But yeah, it sucks none of the cast got nominated at all, though.

The link you've provided is for 2016 Logies which has come and gone. I'm not sure what link rockfencris is looking at but it must be preliminary voting for next year's nominations.

reply

Apologies to Rockfenris.

That's the site that came up when I googled, and I did think it was weird that the young guy from 800 Words would still be eligible for Best New Talent now I think about it.

I found the voting page, am reading through, but I think you can write in who you want to vote for as well? Like these aren't the nominees, just suggestions? So if enough people vote for Andrew Morley, who's on the actors' page, he'll be nominated? Or something. I'm even more confused.

Anyway, this is the link for this year.

Edit: No, you can't put in who you want. I also can't believe that yes, Fifi is under consideration over Mavournee. I mean, at least Collette, Jodi and Olympia are regulars...

Edit 2: This may explain why, at least somewhat, but I can't believe they picked Fifi over a regular!

It's horrifying for me that Madison would be in Best New Talent, but Mavournee isn't in any of the nominations. I couldn't believe it. I laughed out loud. It's absurd, and Fifi's in there. Just wow.

reply

I suppose, technically, Mavournee wouldn't be eligible for Best New Talent, but I would rather (and did) vote for Jai Waetford over her any day, though I did toss up between him and Xanthe (Lilly).

Fifi kind of shocks me, to be honest, I'd have preferred Jackie Woodburne or Carla Bonner over her for the more mature ladies of the show.

reply

Fifi over Jackie Woodburne and Carla Bonner, just wow.

reply

that is wrong on so many levels tbh. mav is genuinely one of the best actors to come out of the show in years.

reply

And it's actually insane how apparently they can't see that.

reply

Especially Carla this year, honestly. But yeah. I don't even know why they put Fifi in at all, and I didn't hate her as Brooke, but she wasn't like... bright and shining like several others in the cast, to me. She was sort of there.

reply

And she was there for like all of two minutes. They must be having us on.

reply

Cynically, I wonder if it's because of her otherwise high profile.

reply

Not cynical at all, I think you're spot on. She regularly appears on other Channel 10 shows as a guest presenter so it makes sense they would market her above for extra publicity for the network.
