The raped reporter and her question
It would be very interesting to know what was it that made the Duce so furious! Something about the anexation of the Dodecanese but what exactly? I'm from Rhodes but I know nothing about it!

shareIt's a long time since I watched it, but I got the impression Mussolini just wanted to show his power to a female reporter - being an independent woman from a different culture - by raping her. I guess no one rapes anyone just because they feel uncomfortable in an interview.
shareI would be very interested to know if there was any truth to the question the female reporter asked the Duce, since I'm a native in the islands involved in the question.
shareThe little I know about the subject can be found in this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_colonists_in_the_Dodecanese but indeed can't remember what she asked from the Duce.
aside from the question, it's hard to believe he would actually rape a reporter. Did he think she wouldnt tell anyone, or that he would simply deny it and noone would believe her? Even a dictator is concerned with their international image.
shareWhat the reporter says is:
"The story goes that back in 1924, when Italy got definite title to the Dodecanese Islands and you were informed of the fact, you ordered a naval squadron to take formal possession, only to be advised by an embarrassed aide - thank heavens before the squadron steamed out - that Italy had been holding the islands for more than a decade. Now, really, Your Excellency, is that true?"
Thank you so much! I will try to find more on this!
shareIts BS. He never raped a reporter.Dorothy Thompson even she says such a thing never happened. No, it's a total myth.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
