Was there ever any explaination for why she left?

I don't think so. According to the BBC website she is still a current character.
I think we last saw her in January when Charlie croaked it.

Didn't she marry fat Elvis and get shipped off to live happily in the Kat and Alfie spin off that thankfully never happened?

Kat&Alfies spinoff is still happening no she found ourlt Fat Elvis cheated on her.

I think the actress cut down to guest character only. I guess shes getting older snd wanted to slow down. no idea where big mo is supposed to be living though since she split with fat elvis.

She's taking a break from her last big storyline when she was stealing carrots at the allotments.

Laila Morse's contract wasn't renewed when it expired in July 2012 and since then she has only appeared when required.

Mo went to live with Belinda and her husband in Essex after Charlie died because Kat couldn't forgive her for having her son taken away. Belinda has now moved to Walford so it seems Mo's whereabouts are currently unknown.
