Almost incestuous premise....

Think about it. I know that the world over, distant cousins marrying might be kosher, but here in the states, it's like "Eeeeeeewww".

Miles' mom Sable and Jeff's mom Frankie are both first cousins of Caress and Alexis (Fallon's mom). Fallon married and slept with both Miles and Jeff.

And yes, I know that the west coast Colbys had NOTHING to do socially with the Denver Carringtons for almost 20 years, but when Fallon turned up in Los Angeles, as a new bride for Miles, I mean, SURELY any of the Colby women would have recognized her from newspapers, society magazines, or the like.

Of course, our soaps are high camp and escapism, but a few doses of reality could have made them a tad more believeable .

Then, on top of that we had two brothers married to two sisters. Nothing incestuous, but still...

Other people have mentioned the Fallon recognition thing, but I don't think it's so surprising. They might well have seen Fallon in magazines etc, but they won't have done so for at least over a year, and people often tend to look quite different in 'real life' to how they do in magazines and other media. Plus, during her time as 'Randall' Fallon has adopted a totally different look for herself to how she will have last looked to the 'casual observer' seeing her in some media format.

The family have never seen Miles's girlfriend in the flesh until the ending of Episode 1, and almost straight away into Episode 2 they get to know who she really is, so it's not as if the script dwells on the 'pretence' for any length of time. Once the cat was out of the bag I'm sure it fell into place for the characters, but to have them all declaring "Oh yes of course, I recognise her now" for the purposes of exposition would have been almost as contrived as the plot itself. Sometimes we can assume that characters think things without us needing to hear them saying them.

Excellent thoughts! It may sound strange, but some of my distant cousins I have not seen in decades, so if I saw them at a concert or a public event, I wouldn't know them and they wouldn't recognize me, neither.

Not only a new look (shorter hair, shorter frame, younger appearance, bustier), but she an English accent. LOL.

Yes that bothered fans as well. Not only are they family and therefore would know what Fallon looks like..
