Was the character of Jonathan in`The Mission`inspired by Roy Lichenstein?....just wondering.

Probably not. But if you had to pick an influential cartoonist who fought in WWII, I'd say Jack Kirby.

No, because if he was inspired by Lichtenstein, he'd have a real artist's work next to him to steal from.
