Gene Wilder 1933 to 2016 R.I.P. my friend
very sad news indeed
shareMy favorite of his films.
shareCool that you came on this under-the-radar Wilder film board to pay respect - RIP indeed.
Yes, it is melancholy news but also a chance to remember how much we enjoyed his films. It's years since I saw The Woman in Red and no one has mentioned it in all the tributes this morning but I always liked it. It would be interesting to watch it again and see how it's aged. I find certain films are very much of their time and look dated for a period (10-30ish years after they were made?) before we start to appreciate them again. I'd like to see if this is true for TWIR.
I have always believed in the kindness of strangers
I watched it in April (see my topic below). I can't believe how relevant it still is today.
I am 35 and can relate to a bunch of friends covering for each other's cheating and being unable to face the prospect of being alone.
I know a couple of people like Joey.
I dare say it is due an up to date remake.
There will never be anyone else like him.

Such a horrible loss. I'm revisiting his films, including this one, to preserve his memory – as if I needed any help.
