What is Charlie doing in the scene in the bathroom?


when jim and tony are about to leave charlies, is he cutting himself in the bathroom or something???

Charlie has his arm tied up and he is injecting heroin. Apparently a lot of guys came back from Vietnam with addictions to heroin/morphine. It's why Jim looked so disappointed when he left Charlie's house. That scene was apparently cut from the VHS release, but it is in the original theatrical version..

It was Jim wising up to stop idolizing war vets and realizing the aftermath. Maybe Jim joined the Army or Marines and became a Desert Storm vet or if even stupider, stayed in the military all the way up to 9/11 and by that time a Platoon Sgt leading a bunch of dumb soldiers
