The original film is perfect! PLEASE DONT RUIN IT WITH A REMAKE!

This movie could be re-released in theaters. It holds up almost perfectly.

Another big budget adaptation is what they tried to do with the second film... and that was neat because you got to see more of Fantasia... but nothing amazing.... and I am sure a remake would never do this film justice. I would rather see a film that explores Fantasia and tells a story of the people in that fantasy realm. A story of the Rock Biters would be amazing! I remember how fascinating that puppet was, seeing it for the first time. Or, how about Falkor.... where might the luck Dragons be from? Is there a story about him? How about the Plains People that hunt the Purple buffalo... maybe a story that ends with the birth of Atreyu? The guy who did the voice of the rock biter and Falkor is still with us! Get the Jim Henson Co. To make the puppets! make it all practical if possible. Did anyone catch their TV show? Now they need to put the winner to work!

A remake wouldn't ruin this film. The worst case scenario is the remake will be horrible and people will still remember this film fondly. But it's just as likely to have an amazing remake, and people will STILL enjoy this film (think about True Grit).

I agree, please don't ruin a work of art. This came out when I was three & im 34 now!!
It's still one of my favourite films ever from my childhood!! Please don't ruin it, look what happened with Charlie & chocolate factory remake!! Oh my word, biggest disaster in history, 1st time ever I had to walk out of the cinema with the remake.
When the dolls went on fire & the Oompa Loompas started singing I actually felt sick & had to leave because
I couldn't take it any more!

I just watched this movie for the first time today. It's very rare for me to watch a movie that isn't horror and even more rare that I'll actually like it. But I did love this one. I think if they were to be a remake, it would make a profit in the theaters and be popular for a couple weeks but would be forgotten a couple months later while the original would still be remembered. So I don't think it would harm anything.

A remake can never "ruin" the original movie. Once a remake is made, the original movie doesn't cease to exist. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory didn't "ruin" Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Not to mention that a new adaption from the book would NOT be a remake, it would be a new adaption from the original source material.

Someone on the same wavelength as me. Though much like how people chastise the CATCF for not being like WWATCF, many are wont to just shake off something that has been hardwired into their brains (many kids cannot just shake off the Oompa-Loompa songs from the WWATCF film, in favor of the rhymes of Dahl and what Danny Elfman adapted).

Though regarding making TNS into a new item, I'd like to see it as a mini-series. That way, you'd have more than enough time to deal with Bastian's adventures in Fantasia.

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."

This film is brilliant. As you said, it would still hold up today in theaters. A remake would be tragic to say the least.

This movie aged well, it has great scenarios and costumes and makeups.

I'd like to see Fantasia and its chars as a CG world. But it should be well developed like Avatar.

Oz the Great and Powerful was wonderful. They just need to get good professional to make a remake.

I'd also like to see it with more resemblance to original book.

If they did a remake, I wouldn't be surprised if Tim Burton directs it, since he's into having family-oriented movies into dark movies.
