Hollywood is remaking just about everything. Be patient. They will. In fact, there's an IMDb page of the remake. It was suppose to of been released in 2012.

I hope this film never gets remade. Maybe a few CGI touch ups to get rid of matte lines, or some digital tweaks, but nothing fundamental. Just enhancements. That's a film I'd pay to see again.
This movie is 80s royalty.
But honestly, an attempt at a more proper adaptation wouldn't be such a bad idea. Going overboard with CGI is the only thing that I wouldn't be looking forward to, but otherwise I would be down for another go at this series if it's done with, um, respect.
No.....this is what they tried to do with the sequels.....people heard of the 'second' the others did not even get a mention they were even worse.

Disney is threatening a remake for 2024 but the way they've been going I don't have high hopes.
